Dr. Finn Rein loves his wife, but he doesn’t love Hudson, a man she works with.

Hudson is wealthy and handsome, an attorney having a holiday party at his very fine home. Dr. Rein doesn’t want to be there, but he’d do anything for his wife, so he tries to make the best of his time there.

He admires the Christmas decor, samples the sumptuous hors d’ouevres, and contemplates a curious painting hanging on Hudson’s posh walls, René Magritte‘s “The Son of Man”, a man in a bowler hat and overcoat, his face obscured by a floating green apple.

The painting explores the tension between the visible and the hidden. Everything we see hides something else behind it, and we’re always curious to see what’s concealed.

At this particular party, Dr. Rein must hide his utter distaste for a man far too interested in his wife.

The Dipped-Cherry Latte is a scene from the world of Kill the Thing You Love, a psychological thriller about a man whose first love died nearly a decade ago, and the morning she walked back into his life.
